This is a composition of wall sections and details, as I thought it was important for everyone to see where the details where coming from. This also helped me to identify where I need to make adjustments to my plan and structural design as well.

Eddie,
Your details look very developped. I hav eto admit I'm not teking the time reght now to check every aspect of the details. One thing that jumped out roght away however is the fact that your insulation is not continuous. Fighting heat loss (or gain) will not be accomplished with using a magic bullet, but with making sure that we tighten the building as much as possible. Ideally we would apply an uninterrupted layer on th eoutside of our buildings. Any penetrations are a challenge. So, I think you should try to adjust your details to allow what I posted in my blog.
Hey Eddie, those are really great videos.
Watching the Automated Parking System video was very informative, I have never seen or used one of those before. Have you? The engineering of the mechanics looked like it would be fun to design. A couple of curious questions, it looked like the system captured the wheels but was open in between. Did I see that right? What happens if some bozo has an oil leak and he is above my Ferrari? Those questions have absolutely nothing to do with your design, but I was just wondering. What would be fun if someone pulled in and while they were parking inside, you ran up and pushed the buttons to send them up! (I must be getting tired and delirious).
Great videos, I enjoyed the wind turbine one also, do you know how much one of those cost and what the average output is? My dad has always wanted to get involved in wind energy; I am going to send him the link to your video. He has actually built several buildings on his farm and used solar energy to supplement the gas fired furnaces to heat them. He was green when green wasn’t cool!
Great work!
David,
We have used Automated parking systems on some of our residential projects before. We have a project in the works where this system will be implemented and it will be a couple of floors inside. To answer your question on the system being open in between, is not, is completely closed, therefore your Ferrari will not be damaged! :-P You have a Ferrari, D_mnnnn brother! must be nice being a partner! Need anything, I'll wash the wheels for you......LOL
In regards to the turbines, I don't know much about the cost, but the way things are going with LEED at our office, it looks like I need to get some hard numbers for clients in regards to Renewable energy. It's interesting to see that our older generation was more green and therefore healthier. My wife's grandmother used to harvest her own things at her farm in Massachusetts.
My grandmother is another good example, she was like "concrete", the older she was the stronger she was, she used to eat everything and was strong like bull, unfortunately, she finally passed last fall, her life was a blessing. She was around 104, I think. Anyway, they always talked about growing their own things, I think this is why if we change the way we think, we could have a future, good for your dad. Anything I find out about Renewable energy I'll be sure to send it your way.
Regards,
Eddie
